What does it take to get started? To get moving and headed in the right direction? (and I am not talking about coffee!!) Today it is my joy and privilege to “jump- start” this journey and then prayerfully to keep us moving in the right direction.
Martin Luther King, Joyce Meyer, Billy Graham, Harriet Tubman, John Wooden and Vince Lombardi were all influential leaders and became or are exemplary in their chosen fields. These men and women were able to capture something bigger than themselves. They were able to have such a personal vision of what could be done that they were able to help others catch the vision too. As a result, many lives were changed.
They were motivated to pursue a lofty goal that became even clearer as they pursued it. The resources available to them at the start of their journey are unknown but they persevered, and whatever opportunities that initially existed for them, as they took one step at a time and moved forward towards accomplishing their dream, it became clearer and clearer. Would you say they left a legacy? Absolutely!
But the greatest visionary who has every walked this planet was Jesus Christ. He was a wonderful servant leader whose life exemplified all the characteristics of his “holy DNA.” His speech and preaching were love motivated. His teachings set a new and noble standard and his miracle performing lifestyle showed the world the true nature of his Father and the two spiritual kingdoms. He “talked the walk and walked the talk.” He was the epitome of success.
But, we have to realize that certainly one of the most challenging aspects of doing something, especially when it comes to an activity you are not familiar with, is GETTING STARTED!!
