The Price He Paid or the Price He Endured?

Published: 23 March 2016

Recently I heard a thought provoking statement in light of what our Lord and Savior went through to pay the price for our redemption. Al, recently in fellowship, presented another perspective that should really touch the depth of our being.

Many times when we buy something, we just put forth the money or visa card and it’s done. No big deal to pay whatever the price is. But for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ there was much more to do. The price he paid did not involve running a plastic card through a machine. It took him enduring immense pain for several days. He suffered like no man has ever experienced. It was all with the passion of loving you and me.

He approached the Heavenly Father in the garden to see if there was another way to accomplish man's redemption. There was not. He had to go through the most excruciating pain you could ever imagine. When we talk about the price he paid, perhaps we should be relating to the price he endured! When you partake of the communion service, please remember how much it took our Lord and Savior to endure the anguish of suffering to pay the legal price for man's redemption.

Heb 6:15 And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise

Heb 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Can you imagine Jesus Christ expressing that it was “joy” going through such an oppressive experience. Wow did he love mankind! What a terrific Lord and Savior we have! What should be our response to this? We should not only admire, but walk believing God's Word.

Rom 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

Our response should be to walk in newness of life, recognizing all Jesus Christ has endured for us.

No, I have not discovered some deep, hidden inheritance document that makes me some King or Nobleman. I do not even have in my DNA the lineage that makes me a Duke, nor an Earl, nor a Knight, not even some lowly stable boy!

Yet, I do reign in life as a result of what Jesus Christ did.

Romans 5:17b
...much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.

The Lord Jesus Christ paid the ultimate price to enable the born again one to reign in life. With the receiving God’s grace and His righteousness, we are put on a higher plane. You do not see Kings and Noblemen holding back from their position. They are excited, because they know who they are. We are righteous because we have His righteousness. We are confident because we are in the family of God. We are bold because it is Christ in us the hope of glory!

For many people they are subject to their sins and allow their ill-feelings to control their actions. We are not subject to the world. Our inheritance is in the Heavenly Father who has delivered us out of this dark world and put us in the kingdom of His son.

Colossians 1:12 & 13:
Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
We are sons of God who reign in life because of what Jesus Christ did. Remember this reality and walk boldly.

FACEBOOK

Published: 04 March 2016

I am not much of a Facebook person, but it is nice to see what different people are doing and saying from time to time. This social media reaches out to enhance relationships. Relationships are what makes life so special.

The most spectacular relationship we can experience is with our Heavenly Father. It is His Face that we should be seeking first and foremost.

2Ch 7:14: If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face,

and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Deu 34:10 And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face,

Psa 27:7 & 8: Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me, and answer me.

When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek.

Dan 9:3a: And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications,..

God invented Facebook long ago. It was an exclusive arrangement with Him.

Now, those who are born again (Romans 10:9), are more than "friends" with God, but are sons of God (I John 3:1), and can "come boldly unto the throne of grace" (Hebrews 4:16).

What a joyous expectation we can have as we Facebook much with our Heavenly Father.

The Will Of...

Published: 17 February 2016

Well, what am I going to do today? Let's see, ah, what do I feel like doing? Or maybe I should ask what should I be doing? What needs to be done? Why is it a need? Is it what God wants me to do?

Boy, those are a lot of questions with no real answers in sight. Typically what I will to do, goes around and around in my mind. My brain cells wrestle with it. An even better question is, what is God's will for me?

Before answering this question, let's consider how Jesus Christ answered this for himself.

John 4:34
Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.

The Lord Jesus Christ subsistence was to do the will of the Father.

Now back to the question regarding us: What is the will of God for us?

Our aim in life as sons of God, born again of His spirit, should be doing the will of God from the heart and not just with our mouth.

Ephesians 6:6:
Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;

Once we are born again, we start to study the Word of God, which is the will of God. We align our thinking to God's desires which is to have an intimate relationship with us. As we renew our minds to do the Word of God we are doing His will. "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God" (Romans 12:2).

Finally, the one great benefit for doing His will is " And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever." I John 2:17.

Overcoming Knee Knocking

Published: 09 February 2016

I venture to say we all have experienced the uncomfortable feeling of when we had to go see the boss, or we were introduced to some famous person. We generally get nervous and our knees start to play patty cake with each other.

Of all our relationships the most important one is with God Almighty. How do we successfully approach our awesome Heavenly Father?

God's Word provides us with the answer:

Hebrews 4:16:
Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Hebrews 10:22
Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

Remember this is not some business relationship, but one of a loving Father with His children. Our Father has poured out His heart to us, providing His only begotten son to pay the ultimate price with his life so that we could have a new life in Christ. He has given to us of His spirit which is "Christ in you the hope of glory" (Colossians 1:27). All of this and other privileges of being a son of God should give us the confidence to go boldly before our God.

The above verses gives us the keys to having a fruitful relationship with our Heavenly Father. These keys include

  • Come boldly
  • Come with a sincere heart full of confidence
  • Have our hearts (minds) free from evil thinking

We just come boldly before Him. We get rid of any evil thinking and have full confidence in God loving us and wanting to bless us. He calls us His workmanship!

"For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works," (Ephesians 2:10). We have no reason to not come boldly before Him.

I John 3:21-22:
Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.
And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.

Take off your knee pads and come boldly on in before your Heavenly Father. He wants to bless you exceedingly abundantly!

Ephesians 3:20
Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,

Bob
